The location of the hostel was perfect, right in the heart of the bustling old town. I loved being able to explore Funchal's attractions with just a short walk. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the hostel made me feel right at home. The kitchen was well-equipped, allowing me to cook my own meals. The friendly and helpful staff, especially Christina, went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. And let's not forget the highlight of my mornings - the delicious breakfast spread, complete with bacon and eggs, cereals, and fresh fruit. Oh, and did I mention the free daily cake? Definitely a sweet treat to look forward to! Although there were a few minor inconveniences, such as noise from the street and cleanliness issues in the common areas, it didn't overshadow the overall positive experience. I would highly recommend this hostel for its great location, friendly staff, and tasty breakfast. I had a fantastic time at Santa Maria and would definitely stay again!

I stayed at this lovely hostel in Funchal for a few days and it was the perfect base for exploring the island. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and gave great advice. The rooms were comfortable and nicely furnished, and the entire hostel was kept very clean. The communal kitchen was a nice touch, and the free cake provided each day was a delightful treat. Breakfast, included in the price, was excellent and the Santa Maria restaurant below the hostel offered a 10% discount for guests. Highly recommended!

Would be happy to recommend this hotel.

I had an amazing time at Santa Maria! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and cozy. The kitchen provided everything I needed, and they even offered free spices, tea, coffee, and fresh fruit and cake. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a variety of options. Plus, the location was perfect, right on the lively Santa Maria street. Highly recommended!

Can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

The location of this hostel was fantastic, right in the heart of the main street with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to assist me with finding a boat ride to Calhau da Lapa, even making a call for me. The rooms were clean and comfortable, ensuring a pleasant stay.

One aspect that could be improved was the noisy environment, especially if you have a room facing the street. There was a bar outside that played loud music until late at night, which made it difficult to sleep.

I recently stayed at Santa Maria in the heart of the old town. The location was perfect, surrounded by great bars and restaurants but still quiet. The hostel had a lovely garden and the staff were incredibly helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and I appreciated the variety of rooms available to suit different budgets. Santa Maria is the best place to stay in Funchal!

They went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed and provided great recommendations for things to do in the area. the breakfast was delicious and had a good variety of options to choose from. the location was perfect, just a short walk to the main attractions and close to some great bars and restaurants.

The noise from the street could be bothersome, especially if you're a light sleeper. It would have been better if the windows were soundproofed to minimize the disturbance.
